Hi, nice to meet you! I am a PhD student at UW Madison interested in the mathematical and scientfic foundations of AI. I finished my Bachelor's and Master's at the University of Michigan, advised by Ambuj Tewari, Clayton Scott and Rada Mihalcea.
I think we need to solve AI safety. I am interested in approaching this using tools from ML theory, theoretical CS, and physics (e.g. interpretability, science of scaling). We need new abstractions that better capture language, reasoning, theory-building, and self-reference.
Some research highlights include a deep learning theory paper at NeurIPS '24, and a summer working on data-efficient LLM pretraining supervised by Andrew Gordon Wilson.
